State Governmental Affairs Activities:

For the purpose of statewide unity of Alabama’s electric cities, ECA makes every effort to achieve consensus among its member utilities and become the voice of Alabama’s electric cities. Activities are facilitated by ECA staff to bring representatives of member cities together with their elected officials throughout the year. These activities develop a better working relationship between electric cities and their respective legislators, as well as other elected officials. To this end, ECA provides the following services to its members:

bullet Legislative & Regulatory Coordination
bullet Regular “Legislative Updates” & “Legislative Alerts”

This activity includes communications and contacts with the Alabama congressional delegation, urging their support of the Electric Cities legislative agenda within Alabama and the nation.

The Training & Development Program includes all training programs or services, disaster assistance, and loss control activities. The ECA staff works with the Training & Development Committee to develop and implement meaningful and worthwhile programs for various areas of responsibility for directors and employees.

Our staff works with other training organizations such as the Tennessee Valley Public Power Association (TVPPA) and the Alabama Rural Electric Association of cooperatives to form partnerships that will insure that training is not duplicated and is cost effective for all parties involved.
